Historic Preservation
Much of the Orient Village is designated as a Historic District by Southold Town. Homes within this area date from the 17th, 18th and 19th century and many have local, state or national historic value. The Historic Preservation Commission of Southold affords proper recognition to the town’s historic landmarks and to protect them from incompatible alterations or demolition. Doing so will maintain them for the continuing recognition, use, and enjoyment of current and future residents and visitors of the town.
The Historic Preservation Commission has a presentation about the History of Orient and Southold Preservation.
The map on the right shows the bounds of Orient’s Historic District.
