Get your water tested for chloride content
The Orient Association would like to monitor chloride levels — a marker of saltwater intrusion — for several years by setting up an annual chloride testing day. On August 22, OA and Mermaid Water Solutions will set up a table outside the Orient Country Store to provide homeowners with test kits to retrieve their home water samples. OA will publish trends, but data on specific homes will be kept private. This will not be a potable water test — the test is limited to chloride content, an indicator of saltwater intrusion. The results will only be meaningful if homeowners commit to participating annually for several years.
